Why is pre-filtration critically important?

Reverse osmosis membranes are extremely sensitive to mechanical contaminants, chlorine and organic compounds. Without proper pre-filtration:

Composition:

  1. PT-PP5-12 — Mechanical cartridge 5 μm
  2. PT-GAC-12 — Granular activated carbon
  3. PT-CTO-12 — Briquetted coconut shell carbon

Purpose: Universal set for most reverse osmosis systems when using mains water.

Purpose: For water with elevated microbiological contamination or when maximum mechanical filtration is required.

PT-CTO-12 — Briquetted carbon

Technology: Sintered block from 100% coconut shell

What it removes:

  • Chlorine and chloro-organic compounds
  • Heavy metals (lead, mercury)
  • Volatile organic compounds
  • Unpleasant taste and odour

Features:

  • 100% coconut shell — the most effective source of activated carbon
  • Sintered structure ensures filtration uniformity

PT-PP1a-12 — Antibacterial cartridge 1 μm

Technology: Blown polypropylene treated with colloidal silver

When should cartridges be replaced?

Recommended replacement schedule:

  • Mechanical cartridges (PT-PP5-12, PT-PP1a-12): every 3-6 months
  • Carbon cartridges (PT-GAC-12, PT-CTO-12): every 6 months
