At present the biggest part of housekeeping expenses are eaten up by heating the building and water. For us, the consumers, it is a very important element of our household budget. Therefore it is vital to think how to minimize the maintenance costs but still live in comfort.

Unexpectedly, the nature itself gives us a perfect solution. The sun as the source of pure, infinite and free energy may constitute an ideal way out in terms of ecology and finances. The solar power is accessible everywhere on the Earth and, what is most important, while being used it do not cause any emissions which could harm the environment. The power of sunbeams that reach the Earth within 60 minutes are equal to the annual energy consumption of mankind.

The technological development nowadays gives us possibility to make a good use of this energy. This happens thanks to the solar collectors. They work by absorbing the thermal energy in both direct and diffuse solar radiation through the absorber plate. Then the energy is transmitted to the heating factor (fluid of low freezing temperature) that goes through the common rail. In the next phase the heated fluid gets into the tank. Here it gives out all its heat to the benefit of usable water which is being heated in the tank. Finally, the cool fluid flows back to the collector.

Assuming that annually 1m² of the surface of every roof can receive 1000 kWh of the solar energy, then why should we not use it to our benefit? Naturally, it must be remembered that the kind of a collector, its positioning, size or the fluid used inside are key elements in heat acquisition.

The purchase of the solar collectors may be profitable in our latitude. According to producers from March to October a well-matched set can provide us with 80-90% of warm water demand. During hot months the collectors can supply us even with 100% energy needed to heat water. However, the ones who think everything is free, are definitely wrong. Some financial outlays must be incurred, it is inevitable. Fortunately, the installation costs can be spread out over several years and, the most important here, when counting the expenses and the profits one may be incredibly surprised by the outcome.

The heat generated by the vacuum solar collectors can also be used in technological processes to heat materials or sewage in order to intensify the chemical processes. The heating energy of this kind not only minimizes the heating costs but also save natural resources.
